Switzerland runner-up in «Best Countries»

For the first time ever, the American weekly news magazine has published its «Best Countries» ranking.
Switzerland is runner-up behind Finland which is topping the list. |
Newsweek set out to answer the following question: «If you were born today, which country would provide you
the very best opportunity to live a healthy, safe, reasonably prosperous, and upwardly mobile life?»
Newsweek’s «Best Countries» ranking is holding the answer.
For the ranking 100 countries from all continents were put to test in the categories education, health, quality
of life, economic dynamism and political environment. Every category has equal weight – the maximum country
score is 102 points per category. With its overall score of 89.31 points Switzerland is right behind Finland
(89.40 points). The ranking is based on surveys.
Switzerland has been rated an excellent second thanks to high scores in both the categories health and quality
of life respectively. Japan edges past Switzerland in health; Norway regarding quality of life. Switzerland is
in the top ten to when it comes to education (6th) and economic dynamism (7th).
