This has been the result of a recent study by global management consultancy Arthur D. Little (ADL) «Headquarters
on the Move – Benchmarking of Global and Regional Headquarters in Switzerland». The number of foreign companies
settling in Switzerland, may be shrinking, but, according to the study, this is rather a symptom of economic
hardship than due to decreases attractiveness of the business location Switzerland.
Thiemo Rehländer, partner with ADL in Zürich and Head Financial Services, explains: «In many industries the end
of the crisis has yet to begin. Hence, important and foremost investment-related decisions such as establishing
a new headquarters, are on hold or have been revoked entirely.» Already established companies, however, continue
to be satisfied with the business conditions in Switzerland: 92 percent of companies surveyed intend to stay in
Switzerland provided tax law or business conditions not change substantially.
Among the most important factors contributing to the ongoing positive perception of Switzerland's attractiveness
for business are the availability of high qualified workforce, political stability, modern infrastructure as well
as the taxation law.
