Switzerland: high productivity thanks
to highly motivated workforce |
In a recent labor productivity survey in highly developed countries by the Business Environment Risk
Intelligence (BERI), Switzerland is among the leading pack. |
Switzerland's productivity has been ranked second runner-up out of 19 highly developed countries that took part
in the BERI study. Singapore (89 points) came out on top, ahead of the US (76), and Switzerland as well as Taiwan
(both 75).
Switzerland's strongly motivated workforce has been an important contributor to the top score. Other key factors
included Switzerland's excellent infrastructure and outstanding education.
In order to compile the ranking BERI evaluates the ratio of labor costs and productivity, the educational level
of workforce, charges for workers' participation and social expenses, as well as the costs incurring due to
absence and strikes. In addition, BERI distinguishes between highly industrialized, emerging and developing
countries. |
