In 2008 Zurich had been in eighth place in the global airport comparison. This year, only Incheon Airport (Seoul),
International Airport Hong Kong and Singapore Changi Airport managed to outperform Zurich.
Thomas E. Kern, CEO of Unique (Flughafen Zürich AG), said that the high standard of quality ought to be maintained
in spite of tough times for the global economy: «Maintaining Zurich Airport's service quality at such a high level
is a challenge. We owe this top position to all the airport personnel who are committed to delivering outstanding
service, day in, day out.»
The ranking is carried out annually by the consultancy agency Skytrax. This year's ranking is based on 8.6 million
airline passenger questionnaires covering 190 airports in about 100 countries. The survey evaluates traveler
experiences across 39 different factors, such as waiting time, friendliness of airport personnel, cleanliness of
the airport, and transport connections.
