Switzerland among best five in IT Ranking |
According to the World Economic Forum's latest Global Information Technology Report, Switzerland now
ranks in 5th place up from 9th last year. This improvement is mainly due to excellent economic conditions, which
prompt investment in information and communication technology (ICT), in addition to the country's "e-readiness"
for private use.
Switzerland has made great strides, says the Report, because its information and communication technology
advancement is powered by country's first-class business environment and effective e-leadership
in the business sector.
The Report ranks Denmark first in information and communication technology, followed by Sweden, Singapore
and Finland. The USA, the front runner in last year's study, is currently in 7th place due to a decline
in political and regulatory conditions. However the USA still leads in innovation.
The Report, covering a record 122 economies worldwide, has become the world's most respected assessment
of the impact of information and communication technology on the development process and the
competitiveness of nations.
